FAQ’s

These items are needed to use the BAM Biometric Sensor:

  • BAM Biometric Sensor Mat
  • BAM Network Device
  • USB cable
  • USB memory stick
  • Wireless internet access
  • Your wireless access point SSID and password
  • Mac or PC computer with browser and internet access
  • iPhone, iPod touch or iPad with the BAM Labs application installed

Unroll the BAM Biometric Sensor Mat on a flat surface. Unscrew the inflation valve – this will allow the mat to self-inflate within 15-20 minutes. Once the mat has fully inflated, tighten the inflation valve.

Carefully place the BAM Biometric Mat between your mattress and box spring, taking care to center the pad under the area where you will be sleeping.

Make sure the pad is flat and that none of the corners of the mat are bent under or extend beyond the edge of the bed in any direction.

The mat should be installed so that the cable is at the head of the bed. The mat may be installed either side up in order to accommodate the most convenient placement of the USB cable for installation on either the right or left side of the bed.

For wider beds (King/Queen) you should use a companion mat to create a level surface between your box spring and mattress. After the mat is placed between your mattress and box spring, replace your normal bedding (sheets/blankets/pillows) on the bed.

Once the bed is calibrated and a person uses the solution there should be no problem. If an animal weighs enough (apprx 40+ lbs) and a heart rate is detected, it will be recorded.
The Mats are designed NOT to lose air. The pressure is monitored constantly and can be seen in the Device Configuration on the BAM app. If it gets too low, open the valve for a few seconds. After tightening the valve, recalibrate.
Yes. Simply go into “People”, inactivate the person/room you are removing the Mat from; Change the Room # to “unassigned”; “Add New Person”; Assign the Network device to the new room/person and move the hardware.
The Mat is designed to work UNDER a mattress’ pressure. Instead of having someone lay on its surface, bounce a quarter on the Mat and explain the sensitivity when the motion bars spike.
It starts at 30 seconds and doubles with each change

10 = 30 sec of motion
9 = 1 min of motion
8 = 2 min of motion
7 = 4 min of motion, etc

An administrator login has full access to information related to an account, such as person and user information. A nurse account can monitor people, but cannot manage personal information, create other users, or add new devices.
When logged in as an administrator, go to the “Users” tab under Settings and click “Add New User”. Enter the information, and click save.
  • Log on to the BAM Labs web site
  • Navigate to People menu
  • Click the “Add New Person” button.
  • Fill in person information, assign to room.
  • Use room drop down menu to select room.
  • Click “Save” button.
  • Click “Home” button – person and room appear
The final step in setting up your BAM Biometric Sensor is to verify the WiFi signal strength, check the mat pressure, calibrate the mat, and assign
a Room name.

Using your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch; locate and open the BAM Labs App. Log in using your BAM Labs account information. Select “Settings” at the bottom of the screen, and then touch “Configure Devices”. Select the device you wish to configure. If there is more than one device without a room name, you can identify the device by looking at the number labeled “MAC: xx:xx:xx:xx:xx:xx:” on the back of the Network Device.

The Network Device connects the Biometric Sensor Mat to the Internet and BAM Labs website.

Step 1 – Go to the BAM Labs web site to set up a USB key used to configure your Network Device.

  • Log in at: http://health.bamlabs.com
  • Click “Settings”
  • Click tab “Networks”
  • Click “Add New Network” if one does not exist
  • Insert USB stick in to computer and follow activation instructions on page.

Step 2 – Now that USB Key is configured, insert the key into the Network Device. Connect AC Power.
As the device connects to the Internet and BAM Labs, the status LEDs will blink. Wait until the BAM Labs LED is on without blinking. Remove the USB Key.

Step 3 – Insert the USB cable from the Biometric Sensor Mat in to the USB port on the Network Device.
